This project called for a full interior design scheme for a charming townhouse in the heart of Woodbridge, Suffolk, designed to bring warmth, character, and a sense of effortless elegance to everyday living. Blending timeless furnishings with carefully layered textures and colour, the project transformed the property into a home that feels inviting, refined, and deeply personal.
The client brief
The clients wanted their townhouse to feel more cohesive, welcoming, and reflective of their personal style. While the property had plenty of charm, the interiors lacked warmth and consistency, with individual rooms feeling disconnected from one another.
The brief was to create a timeless scheme that balanced comfort with sophistication, incorporating layered textures, carefully selected furnishings, and a soft, considered colour palette. The clients were keen to avoid anything overly trend-led, instead focusing on interiors that would feel elegant and enduring for years to come.
Functionality was also key, with spaces needing to work seamlessly for both everyday family life and entertaining guests.
The design approach
My approach focused on creating flow throughout the home while enhancing its existing architectural character. I introduced a palette of warm neutrals, muted earthy tones, and natural materials to bring depth and continuity across the spaces.
Bespoke furnishings, decorative lighting, and carefully curated accessories helped create a sense of individuality within each room, while maintaining a cohesive overall aesthetic. Layering texture through upholstery, textiles, artwork, and natural finishes added warmth and softness, creating interiors that feel both polished and inviting.
Throughout the project, I carefully balanced classic and contemporary elements to ensure the finished scheme felt timeless rather than overly traditional.
One of my favourite design choices in this space is the breakfast nook itself. Townhouses often have long, narrow rooms, and creating moments of interest within such a linear layout can be challenging.
By placing a built-in banquette at the end of the kitchen, this previously underutilised corner becomes a natural focal point and a welcoming place to gather. It draws the eye through the room and gives the kitchen a sense of destination, making the most of every inch of available space.
I also love the use of colour and pattern to bring personality to an otherwise restrained palette. The soft green window frames provide an unexpected pop of colour, framing the garden view and adding freshness without overwhelming the room. Combined with the gingham fabrics, decorative objects, and collected ceramics, they introduce layers of charm and character.
The house maintains a clean white aesthetic, reminiscent of an arts and crafts interior, allowing the interest to come from playful patterns, artwork, and treasured objects rather than excessive decoration. The result feels both timeless and joyful.
The results
The project included concept development, detailed design schemes, sourcing, procurement, project coordination, installation, and final styling. Working closely with the clients throughout the process allowed every detail to be thoughtfully considered, resulting in a home that feels cohesive, personal, and beautifully finished.
The townhouse is now warm, elegant, and full of character. Each room feels connected through a carefully formed design language while maintaining its own unique identity.
The completed interiors provide a calm and welcoming backdrop for everyday living, combining practicality with timeless style. The result is a home that feels effortlessly sophisticated, comfortable, and perfectly tailored to its owners.
